Welcome to the SDS technology website! This site introduces you to the range of technology services provided by SDS to the Sydney Anglican Diocese. This is a growing site, which will include more features as our range of technology services develops. Our services are specifically tailored to the needs of the parishes and organisations in our Diocese. The work we are doing at SDS to develop our technology services is in direct response to the Diocesan Mission. Our goal is to provide the services and resources that parishes and organisations need to fulfil their role in the Mission. The Diocesan Area Wide Network (DAWN) Project is a key part of this strategy. The The benefits of this network include robust virus protection and email filtering, as well as a central online base and improved communication throughout the Diocese. From this network, we plan to offer services such as broadband internet access and Voice Over the Internet Telephony (VOIP). Other benefits to come include online forums that can be used to discuss technology needs and concerns, or view announcements. These benefits add to the services we currently provide, such as website hosting and email services. We also use SDS's purchasing power to give parishes and Diocesan organisations access to quality hardware and software. In this way, the whole Diocese has access to the best available practice, product and price. Parishes and Diocesan organisations have the freedom to take advantage of these products and services as appropriate. We have developed a Technology Forum. It is an attempt by the leaders of Technology within the Diocese to strive to support the diocesan mission by creating a collaborative body that can learn from each other and work together to enable cost effective innovation to flourish for the advancement of the Gospel in Sydney.
